Economic Skills

In the wake of the Great Recession and the frustratingly slow recovery the nation still muddles through, personal fiscal responsibility has become an ever more important asset for success. A look at the latest headlines yields daily another cautionary tale of economic mismanagement leading to foreclosure, mounting debt and bankruptcy but actual practical advice as to what to do is skimp. Even given that wage growth is at a 25 year low, the average American worker was only saving 3% of their disposable income as of the end of 2010. Given this foreboding climate and the especially inexperienced nature of most at-risk-youth with formal money management, Move Over Mountains has created a curriculum around the subject of personal economics to empower students and their abilities to manage their bank accounts.

Designed by a pool of experts from the field of banking and economics, Move Over Mountains has put together a series of online courses “peaks” designed to teach basic banking and economic life skills such as - balancing a checkbook, opening and maintaining a bank account, responsible credit usage, navigating loan applications, and budgeting and saving strategies. With an overall stress on personal responsibility, this curriculum teaches the life skills critical for establishing an economically stable and sustainable lifestyle.
